CIVIL WAR LETTERS

Kurt Wilhem, Curator, Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum and his wife, Mary, moved to the North shore from Rhode Island in 1974, and settled in Essex where they raised their two boys. They attended Hamilton-Wenham High School. Kurt retired 8 years ago after a 35-year career with NOAA, where he worked in Gloucester as a seafood chemist and as a fisheries data administrator. Since then, he has been a volunteer Curator at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum, a tax assessor in Essex, a member of the town Historical Commission, and a member of the New England Genealogical Society. In 2010 he co-authored a picture book about Essex. It is in the Arcadia Publishing Images of America series of books.
